The Shiftly apps — which one do I need?

Shiftly is a family of apps — the web platform for owners and managers, Shiftly Me for staff, and Shiftly Go and OnDemand coming soon. This explains what each one is and who it's for.

Shiftly isn't one app — it's a small family of them, each built for a different person and a different job. Which one you need depends on your role and what you're trying to do. Two are available today; two are on the way.

Shiftly web platform — if you run the business

Owners and managers work in the Shiftly web platform, in a web browser on a computer. It's the control room for your business and where everything in the owner and manager guides happens. From here you:

  • build rosters by position or by staff member across your locations,
  • review and approve the timesheets your staff clock,
  • onboard and manage staff and their pay details,
  • set up positions, pay rules and your award,
  • handle leave types, balances, requests and approvals, and
  • connect payroll and export approved hours to Xero.

You don't install anything — just sign in at the Shiftly web address in your browser. See Logging in.

Shiftly Me — if you work shifts

Your staff use Shiftly Me, a free app on their phone — access your shifts and manage your time on the go. It's where they:

  • see their roster and upcoming shifts,
  • clock on and off (which creates the timesheets you review),
  • request leave and track their balances, and
  • pick up open shifts or swap shifts with workmates.

Staff download Shiftly Me from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the account they set up when you onboarded them. See Adding & inviting staff for how they get access.

Shiftly Go — managing on the go (coming soon)

Shiftly Go is the manager's app for your phone — manage your business, schedules, and team on the go. It brings the parts of the web platform you need away from your desk onto mobile, so you can keep things moving from the floor or between venues.

With Shiftly Go, owners and managers will be able to:

  • create and adjust shifts and check the roster,
  • review and approve timesheets, and clear the approvals queue,
  • add employees and manage their details, and
  • manage locations, positions and leave — all from your phone.

Shiftly Go is for owners and managers — it's the mobile companion to the Shiftly web platform, not a staff app. Staff continue to use Shiftly Me. The owner and manager guides describe the web platform; Shiftly Go does the same jobs on a phone.

Shiftly OnDemand — on-demand staffing (coming soon)

Shiftly OnDemand is an on-demand staffing marketplace that connects you with vetted short-term staff, so you're never caught understaffed for a busy service or a last-minute no-show. Post the shift, review the people who apply, and fill the gap — without the frantic group-chat.

OnDemand has two sides:

  • For businesses — post a shift you need covered, review applicants, and confirm someone to work it.
  • For short-term staff — browse nearby open shifts, apply, and get confirmed for work that fits around your life.
