Owners & managers
Everything for running your business in Shiftly — setup, your team, scheduling, timesheets, payroll, leave, and billing. Who these guides are for, what's in them, and where to look if you're not an owner or manager.
These guides cover the Shiftly web platform — the browser-based control room owners and managers use to run their business. If you plan rosters, manage staff, approve timesheets, or handle pay and leave, you're in the right place.
Who these guides are for
The Shiftly web platform is used by the people who run the business, in two broad roles:
- Business owners — the person who sets up the business in Shiftly and owns the account. You create the business, add your locations, connect payroll, and have full access to everything: setup, billing, pay rules, your team, and every location. If you signed up for Shiftly, this is you.
- Managers — the people you invite to help run things day to day: venue managers, duty managers, supervisors, or anyone who builds rosters, approves timesheets, and handles staff. Managers can be scoped to specific locations, so a manager at one venue sees and runs only that venue. The owner decides what each manager can access — see Managers & access.
In a small venue, the owner often is the manager and does all of this themselves. In a larger or multi-site business, the owner sets things up once and managers run the week. Either way, these guides describe the same web platform — the only difference is how much of it you can see, which comes down to your access.
Who Shiftly is built for
Shiftly is built for hospitality — cafés, restaurants, bars and pubs, from a single site with a handful of casuals to a multi-venue group with a couple of hundred staff. If your week revolves around who's on, what they actually worked, and getting that through to pay without a spreadsheet, the platform is built for the way you run. Multi-location businesses are first-class: you can roster, manage staff, and scope managers across several venues from the one account.
What you'll find here
These guides walk you through everything you do in the web platform, end to end — getting your business set up, adding and onboarding your team, building and publishing rosters, reviewing the timesheets your staff clock, working out pay against your award, managing leave, and controlling who on your team can access what. Use Browse by area below to jump to the part you need.
Not an owner or manager?
The web platform — and these guides — are only one side of Shiftly. If running the business isn't your job, you're probably in the wrong section:
- Working shifts? You use the Shiftly Me app on your phone to see your roster, clock on and off, set your availability, swap shifts, and request leave — not the web platform. Head to the Staff guides.
- Not sure which app is yours? The Shiftly apps — which one do I need? breaks it down by role.
- Brand new to Shiftly? Start with What is Shiftly? for the big picture, then Creating your account.
