Connecting Xero

Authorise Shiftly to connect to your Xero organisation so you can export pay and keep employees in sync.

Connecting Xero lets Shiftly export your timesheets and estimated pay to Xero and keep employee details in sync. This guide walks through starting the connection.

Who this is for

Owners and managers using the Shiftly web platform. You'll need a Xero account with payroll and permission to authorise apps for your Xero organisation. (If you don't have Xero access yourself, you can ask your accountant — see Accountant-initiated linking.)

Before you start

  • Open the account menu (your initials, top right) → Integrations.

Connect your Xero account

Open the Xero integration

On the Integrations page, find the Xero card and select Get Started.

Review what the integration does

The setup wizard's first step, Get started (headed Xero Integration), summarises what connecting Xero gives you — estimated pay from approved timesheets, exporting that data to Xero, and keeping employees in sync. Select Continue.

Authorise via Xero

On Connect to Xero, select the Connect to Xero button. You're redirected to Xero to log in and authorise Shiftly to access your organisation, then returned to Shiftly to finish setup. If you don't have Xero access, select I don't have access to my Xero to send the request to your accountant instead.

After you authorise

When you return from Xero, the wizard continues to Pair up your business (match your Xero organisation to your Shiftly business) and Configuration (pay calendar, accounts, and rate mapping). You manage existing connections — and refresh or disconnect them — from Integrations → Xero.

If your Xero organisation is already connected to Shiftly, the wizard tells you it's already connected and points you to contact support — this prevents a second business accidentally taking over the same Xero organisation.
