Locations

Add and edit the places your team works — addresses, timezones, clock-in boundaries, default shift times, public holidays, and employee-app settings.

A business can have one or more locations. Each location holds its own address, timezone, clock-in boundary, default shift times, public holidays, and employee-app settings. This guide covers the locations list and every tab of the location editor.

Who this is for

Owners and managers using the Shiftly web platform.

Before you start

  • Open the account menu (your initials, top right) → Business settings, then choose Locations.

Manage the locations list

View your locations

The Business locations table lists every location with its name and address, plus Edit and Delete actions on each row.

Delete a location

Select the delete icon on a location's row. You'll be asked to confirm — "This cannot be undone." You can't remove your last location; Shiftly shows "You must leave at least one location" instead.

Edit a location

Select Edit on a location to open its editor. The editor has six tabs.

Overview

Name, timezone, opening and closing times, address, and a description.

Clock-in boundary

Defines the physical area where staff can clock in and out — only activity inside the radius is recorded as valid. Drag the map pin to set the exact spot, set the radius (50–1000 m), and turn on "Allow all staff to clock in and out remotely?" if staff at this location don't need to be on-site.

Breaks & Shifts

Set default shift times per day — a start and end time, with a toggle for whether the location is open that day. These pre-fill new shifts; schedulers can still change them per shift. Shift start reminder controls how far in advance staff are notified before a shift starts.

Public Holidays

Default public holidays are based on the location's state. Use the year toggle to switch years, remove a default you don't observe, or select Add Custom Holiday to add your own.

Emergency contact

A first name, last name, phone number, and email for the location's emergency contact.

Settings

Employee app settings control what staff see in the employee app for this location:

  • Show pay information — employees see estimated pay on their shifts.
  • Break tracking — employees record actual break times, used instead of award estimates for pay calculations.
  • Enable shift swapping — employees see swap and cover for this location.
