Troubleshooting

Common problems in Shiftly and how to fix them fast.

Common problems and the quickest fix for each.

My staff can't see their shifts

The roster probably isn't published yet — staff only see shifts once you publish them. Publish the week (or the individual shift). See Publishing a roster.

An employee's pay rate shows $0

They haven't been classified yet. Open their profile, classify them against their award (or set a manual rate), and the rate appears. See Classifying staff.

I can't edit or delete a shift

A shift is locked while the assigned person is clocked in to it — there's an in-progress timesheet. Wait until they clock out (or fix their timesheet) and you'll be able to edit or delete it. See Creating & editing shifts and Editing times & breaks.

I can't change an employee's employment details

The Employment tab is locked while the employee has an active or pending leave request. Resolve their leave first, then change their employment type, income type or basis. See The employee profile.

A new starter hasn't received their onboarding request

If they say the email never arrived, open their row's menu and choose Send Reminder to re-send their onboarding email. See Onboarding new staff.

Staff I imported show "Missing details"

Staff added through a file import land without a pay classification, so they show as Missing details. Open each one, classify them and finish their profile. See Importing staff from a file and Classifying staff.

Shiftly won't let me add a staff member

If the email already belongs to someone on your team, that person can't be added to the business twice. Check whether they're already on your People list. See Adding & inviting staff.

A manager can't see one of my locations

Manager access is scoped to specific locations. Open Share Access, edit the manager and tick the location they need. See Sharing access.
